Chlorosulfonation

Chlorosulfonations are carried out either by direct reaction of the compound with chlorosulfonic acid or via chlorination of in-situ produced sulfonic acids with thionyl chloride.
Alkyl sulfonyl chlorides can be also obtained by oxidation of thiols with chlorine.
